Prior to this, he was a Research Associate in Quantitative Methods at Sheffield Methods Institute, University of Sheffield (2014-2016). Gavin completed his PhD in Advanced Quantitative Methods at the University of Bristol (2011-2014), focusing on spatial multi-level modelling of geographic data. Before coming to the UK in 2011, Gavin was born in Henan province and studied in Henan University and then Chinese Academic of Sciences, Beijing of China.
His key methodological research interest is on bringing together spatial (or spatiotemporal) econometrics/statistics and multi-level modelling approaches for better analysing geographic data with complex structures.
